Misaskim Seeking Information About Deceased Found On Ocean Parkway(Thursday, September 15th, 2011)
Misaskim was contacted by the Brooklyn Medical Examiner’s Office and the 66th Detective Squad regarding information about a deceased individual that has not been claimed by family for two weeks. It is imperative to identify this individual in order to prevent an autopsy should he be of the Jewish faith.
The deceased’s body was found in front of 450 Ocean Parkway on Thursday, September 1, 2011. He did not have any form of identification on him. As of today, no one has come forward to claim the deceased’s body, nor were the detectives able to identify this individual. The following description was given to Misaskim:
The individual was a white male approximately 23 -30 years of age with auburn hair. He is about 6’5 and weighs 550 pounds. He has an “X” tattooed on the inside of both wrists.
Anyone with information in regards to this unidentified male should immediately contact Detective Talavera of the 66th Detective Squad at 718-851-5603.
Reb Mendy Rosenberg of Chesed Shel Emes, was called by the Medical Examiner's office two and a half weeks ago, right after this person jumped to his death, as CSE is always the firs number the ME calls when there is a Jewish problem. There is no indication that this deceased is Jewish, and in a city like New York wher the majority (rov) are non Jews, it is to be assumed that he is not Jewish. To advertise this search on these blogs, is nothing more than promoting Misaskim. Reb Mendy offered them to take the body for burial if it turns out that he is Jewish.
As far as resources to conduct a search campaign, let Misaskim get the publicity, since they happen to like that.
Just recently, CSE organized a rescue mission for the families stranded in Killington, VT. The whole mission was arranged by R' Mendy and the lead pilot who transported the food, was none other than his own brother, who also arranged with two other pilots, both CSE volunteers to fly additional planes for the mission. This story was reported on VosIzNeias and I also spoke to a person who happened to be in R' Mendy's Tire Shop, while he was making the phone calls. Guess who claims credit for the whole thing, Misaskim. They ran a PR NewsAdwert on YWN as follows:
UPDATE: 18 Frum Families Stranded On Vermont Mountaintop Brought To Safety [PHOTOS](Tuesday, August 30th, 2011)
Boruch Hashem, the 18 families who were stranded on top of the Killington Ski Resort in Vermont, have been safely evacuated.
Just a few moments ago YWN spoke with a Mr. Klein who was one of the approximately 100 people stuck on top of the mountain. He tells YWN that local emergency personnel allowed the road to be used for a few minutes to bring them off the mountain. He says the vehicles needed to drive very slowly (less than 5 MPH), and Bichasdei Hashem all have made it to safety. The group thanks all those who assisted in helping them.
As YWN had reported on Monday, the group of close to 100 people from New York were visiting the resort, which some Frum people go to in the summer for vacation. The resort is at the top of a mountain, and the massive amount of rain from Hurricane Irene caused severe flooding at the bottom of the mountain. The flooding caused the two roads which lead to and from the mountain to get washed away. They were literally cut off from any assistance whatsoever.
Amongst the acts of Chesed performed for the group, was an airplane packed with food flown by Queens Hatzolah Paramedic, and seasoned pilot Eli Rowe from Sullivan County Airport to Vermont. A chopper than dropped the food on the mountain for them. Chaveirim of Kiryas Yoel, Catskills Hatzolah and Misaskim were all involved in assisting them in various forms.
