New York - B’Derech: Meeting the Educational Goals Of The Chareidi Community (VIN News Interview)
Published on: September 8th, 2011 at 03:10 PM
News Source: VIN News Staff
New York - While numerous organizations cater to those who have gone off the derech, a Brooklyn based organization aims to prevent young men from straying from the proper road in the first place, by providing them with the skills, self confidence and knowledge that are the prerequisites for success.
B’Derech was founded three years ago by chareidi lawyer Mrs. Ruchie Freier, who realized that many young Chasidic men do not achieve their full potential in the yeshiva system and lacking the self esteem and focus provided by yeshiva life, were in need of direction and motivation.
One of B’Derech’s latest efforts, a GED/Associates program being conducted in conjunction with Bramson ORT, is an effort to provide these young men with a proper education so that they can pursue respectable careers that would provide them with financial independence. Uniquely tailored to the Chasidic community, the program, which began this past spring at Bramson ORT’s Bay Parkway campus, offers supplementary English and math skills for those who may not be proficient in their secular skills. In just sixteen months, students earn both a GED and an Associates degree in profitable fields including accounting, computer programming, HVAC and business management.
In an exclusive VIN video, B’Derech board members Rabbi Paysach Krohn, Rabbi Eliyahu Bergstein, Rabbi Shaul Shimon Deutsch From The Living Torah Museum, LCSW Mordechai Weinberger, Yair Rosenrauch from Bramson ORT College, Williamsburg community activist philanthropist Mr. Yidel Lichtenstein, speak about this unique and vital organization.

 ALERT!!!!
However, since a bochur does not wake up one nice morning and decides to leave the fold,  I would like to know: how many of these boys are victims of sexual abuse, and what was done in terms of theraphy and in reporting to the police? How many abusers were prosecuted?
Dear Boys!!!
If you were molested, even if it happened years ago,
call 911 and note the time of your call.
Or call the Sex Crimes Unit at 718 330-5600
