COLUMBUS, Ohio - A man was sentenced to five years in prison on Wednesday after pleading guilty to aggravated arson and intimidation of a witness.
Prosecutors said that John McFarland Jr. was caught on surveillance camera assembling a Molotov cocktail in June. Seconds later, the footage showed a person tossing the explosive into an apartment, 10TV's Maureen Kocot.
Prosecutors said the bomb was thrown into the apartment of a 71-year-old rape victim.
According to prosecutors, McFarland was following orders from his wife, Heather McFarland, who they referred to as the "mastermind" of the attack.
McFarland was unaware that the accused rapist, Andre Easley, was having an affair with his wife, prosecutors said.
Two juveniles had already pleaded guilty to their role in the firebombing and were serving sentences with the Ohio Department of Youth Services.
Heather McFarland will appear in court in December, she faces charges that include attempted murder, Kocot reported.
